We are hoping you will join us for the 36th annual Lincoln Days
Celebration to be held October 4th and 5th, 2008 here in Hodgenville.
The Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln costume contest will be
held on Saturday, October 4th on the central stage located in downtown
Hodgenville. The contest will begin at 10:30 A.M. (EDT). Look-Alike
contestants are judged on all traits pertaining to Abraham Lincoln with
each presenter being allowed 2-3 minutes to portray/relate a “Lincoln
story or speech”. Mary Todd Lincoln participants will be judged on
authenticity of costume.
Lincoln Oratory Contest (Lincoln Museum Community Room) 9:00 A.M.
Member and Open Divisions. Your participation in Lincoln Days is very
important to us. We’d like to offer you some special attention while you
are here.
Saturday, October 4th: 7:30-9:00am Complimentary Country Breakfast
for all Lincolns and Mary Todds appearing in costume. Breakfast is at
the Hodgenville Woman’s Club.
Breakfast tickets are $7 each for non-contestants.
- 8:30-4:30 The Lincoln Museum invites all participants to complimentary visits at the Museum. You are also invited to sit and rest, to visit with
each other, and to “surprise our visitors” with your presence.
- 8:30-9:00 REGISTRATION FOR ALL COMPETITORS in the Community Room.
- 9:00 Lincoln Oratory Contest begins in the Lincoln Museum Community Room.
- 10:30 Lincoln Look-Alike Contest begins at the Central Stage on the Square
- 11:00-1:00 Hospitality Room open
- 1:30 Traditionally, participants have appeared in the Parade, either walking or riding on a float provided by Lincoln Days. The winner of each contest is asked to ride in a special vehicle for the parade. Parade Lineup is at 1:30. Parade is at 2:00.
- 4:00 Personal group tour of Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site
Please register by September 15th if possible, however, late entries will be accepted.

CONTESTANTS MUST PRE-REGISTER BY MONDAY, September 22, BY 4 P.M.
All winners receive awards and ribbons, with only First Place winners riding on a float in the Lincoln
Days Parade on Saturday, October 4th.

Contests Rules & Entry Form
Little Sarah: Open to all LaRue County girls in the following divisions: Ages 3-6, Ages 7-10
Little Abe: Open to all LaRue County boys in the following divisions: Ages 3-6, Ages 7-10
Best Costumed Family Group: Open to any LaRue County family, with at least three (3)
members dressed in pioneer or antebellum costumes.
Each participant must submit with their application a 3 x 5 index card with a brief description
of their costume and/or props. Please staple the card to this application form.
All contestants are encouraged to use props such as books, dolls, etc. to give their costumes
period authenticity.

All entrants receive a participatory ribbon. Prizes are as follows:
First Place: Little Abe and Little Sarah: $15 cash prize plus trophy.
Second Place: Little Abe and Little Sarah: $10 cash prize plus ribbon
Third Place: Little Abe and Little Sarah: $5 cash prize plus ribbon
First Place winners for Little Abe and Little Sarah will ride on a float
in the Lincoln Days
